The cover page for File 606 shown Camel's ID in FBI. However, Gosho made a BIG, BIG goof here, one that is really visible. The circular logo on the card is as follows: And it read, "U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission." The EEOC is a body that enforces discrimination laws in employment, which is totally unrelated to the FBI. The actual FBI seal is as follows: Link: FBI: Heraldry of the seal

Well, it happens when you don't do enough research... Although I wonder how he could have made a big mistake like that without getting any comments from others or without even realising.

haha that's funny but then if you think about it, all the English-speaking characters in both the mangas and the anime series sometimes speak horrible English can't expect too much...

If they are that afraid, they should stop mentioning FBI altogether.

I also think the "afraid" idea is a bit odd... They used the name of another organization, so how could that make the situation any better? Using another organization's seal could insult FBI/the other organization whatsoever, so I'm not sure if he did it because he was afraid of "stealing" something from the FBI... Maybe it's just a classical case of not doing enough research. But I am just guessing...

Normally, an assistant or the editor is in charge of researching facts, the legal status of photos the mangaka wants to use as background art, ect. -- correct me if I'm wrong but I think that something like the FBI's logo falls into the public domain (like the photos the NASA takes). I don't know who does Aoyama's research. But even if he has an extensive knowledge of detective stories, he's only human. And he has to write a manga chapter on a weekly basis. He's bound to make a mistake sooner or later. For instance, he had Shinichi tell Haibara that Sherrinford Holme's name is "Shelling Ford". Just because Aoyama throws in a few correct facts once in a while that aren't fiction references, his readers shouldn't think that DC is 100% factual. Also, I don't think Aoyama has any reason to worry about the FBI or even the CIA. Mainly because the cold war is over. The J Hoover period where the G-men* had any say as to how pop culture should or should not portray the FBI is clearly over. Also, he lives in another country. It's too late for him to make an accurate portrayal of the FBI's work because he's drawing spy and detective stories, not the real thing. Therefore, a minor factual error like this isn't a big thing. I just wanted to put things into perspective. Also, no one here is on first name basis with the man... * excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G_MenEDIT: en.wikisource.org/wiki/United_States_Code/Title_17/Chapter_1/Section_105
