You know that bit at the end of every volume of Detective Conan where Aoyama Goshou profiles a detective from establish fiction, I've been interested in who has been featured there so that I can expand my knowledge of mystery fiction. I've searched and all I've found about who has been featured were Volume 1-Sherlock Holmes Volume 2-Akechi Kogorou Volume 3-Hercule Poirot Volume 4-Arsene Lupin Volume 5-Jules Maigret Volume 6-Kindaichi Kousuke Volume 7-Detective Colombo Volume 8-Zenigata Heiji Volume 9-Philip Marlowe Volume 10-Auguste Dupin Wikipedia says that Ellery Queen; V. I. Warshawski; Father Brown; Cordelia Gray; Heizō Hasegawa; Matsuhiko Asami; Nero Wolfe; Shunsaku Kudo, and Hannibal Lecter have also been featured but I'm also curious about which volume they were featured and who else has been. It would be really cool if someone could give links to places where I can find what was written for the others that weren't featured in volume1-10 though I'm doubt it will happen.

I'll add also Aoyama Goshou's recommendation of which story featuring the said character he likes best. (Mostly taken from dconan.net which is missing volume 25....for some reason...) Tell me if I make a mistake by the way since I can't read German at all. 1- Sherlock Holmes - The Sign of the Four 2-Akechi Kogorou - The Golden Mask 3-Hercule Poirot - Death on the Nile 4-Arsene Lupin - The Gentleman Thief 5-Jules Maigret - Maigret Sets a Trap 6-Kindaichi Kousuke - Gokumontou, "Gokumon Island" 7-Detective Colombo - The Wine of Separation 8-Zenigata Heiji - Zenigata Heiji Torimono Hikae, "Zenigata Heiji's Arrest Notes" 9-Philip Marlowe - The Long Goodbye 10-Auguste Dupin - The Murders in the Rue Morgue 11: Ellery Queen - The Egyptian Cross Mystery 12: V. I. Warshawski - Blood Shot 13: Father Brown - The Queer Feet? No idea since on the web it says Die seltsamen Schritte 14: Cordelia Gray - An Unsuitable Job for a Woman? It says Ein reizender Job für eine Frau 15: Heizō Hasegawa - main character of Onihei Hankachō(TV show), the recommendation says something about an erring light but I can't read Japanese also and who knows if this show was every translated. 16: Matsuhiko Asami - Site says The Hike Legends Murders but I wasn't able to find a list of Matsuhiko Asami books so I can't confirm if such a book exists. 17: Nero Wolfe - Too Many Cooks 18: Shunsaku Kudo - Surf City Blues (didn't confirm, couldn't find a list of Shunsaku Kubo books) 19: Hannibal Lecter - The Silence of the Lambs 20: Jane Marple - A Murder is Announced 21: Sam Spade - The Maltese Falcon 22: Shozo Totsukawa - couldn't find a list of books starring this guy. 23: Ninzaburo Furuhata - TV series, Babelfish says Yogoreta Ôshô - the soiled king 24: Perry Mason - The Case of the Curious Bride 25: ? (don't know) - I had to leave by this 26: Samejima 27: James Bond 28: Kyôsuke Kamizu 29: Charlie Chan 30: John Thorndyke 31: Kinshiro Toyama 32: Mike Hammer 33: Philo Vance 34: Shigeru Hiigari 35: Drury Lane 36: Catherine Turner 37: Henry Jackson Had to leave at 25.

Damn, a lot of those characters are Japanese. Though that's not a surprise...just disappointing that we probably won't be able to read those stories unless we know Japanese. Out of curiosity, where did the cat (Vol. 25) come from?

Eh - Gosho's summary would probably give good information on that ^^ Basically it's a cat that leads his masters to all the clues, hence his name - kind of like what Goro did in Vol. 51 File 7-8 [Though Conan set that up]. Google shows a couple OAVs are out there but not much otherwise. Hope that helps ^^

I have found a very complete page with scans of the "Gallery of Detectives": detektiv-conan.dyndns.info/html/detektive/detektive.phpThe web is in German, but you can use an online translator to avoid this little matter and read Gosho´s comment about the character. There´re two more problems: 1. some detectives haven´t an image associated; 2. the list finishes on character 44 (Koichiro Munesue). If anyone of this forum has scans of the remaining characters and the absent ones, it would be great to share them ;D ;D ;D. Now I give you the names of the "no-face detectives" in the page: - Father Brown. - Hanshichi. - Koichiro Munesue. My favourite is Kosuke Kindaichi. Recently, a novel of Seishi Yokomizo (the author) has been translated in Spanish, but I have read it in English before There are many books of Japanese detectives mentioned by Gosho translated in English. If you´re interested on them, tell me and in the next post I´ll give you some titles.
