I can't do any translation of it, but I'm interested to note that the raws posted above are in Chinese, which may add yet another problem, since translating from a translation is very likely to result in errors.* Does anyone have the Japanese raws for those pages to work from?
(As another note: The English scanlation is definitely done from the Japanese. Some of the pages, while not as clean, show hiragana and katakana clearly.)
*ex: It's been the night of a very heavy day and I have worked as does a dog.

Sorry but that are the only scans I have found beside the english and german. And I know definitely that the german ones are also done from japanese, so we have a problem: two translations done from same language are completly different (but I have to note that sometimes I wish to be able to read the japanese rawfiles because the german translation is so stupid.)

Ahhh. Then at least we know that the German translation wasn't messed up due to the mistranslation of a mistranslation. (Also known as International Telephone. *grin*) They're stupid? How? (PM me if you want on that, since it really isn't a part of the thread. I'm just curious.)
As a note regarding the English translation, the reason the subject of the crows came up at all is that they notice that everything in the mansion has been marked with a crow crest. Don't know if that matters, but I think it may.

Heh. A quick check with NJ Star reveals that the millionaire's name is not a standard Japanese name. I'm presuming the standard Japanese construction, so that the family name would be Crow and the personal name (kanji at least) apparently has something to lotus roots. I'm not sure the last part matters. It may be a reconstruction of a western name. (I'm sure someone will correct me on that if it has another meaning or is a valid Japanese name. All I have is NJ Star to work with.) Kentaru, could you copy your post over to that thread in the manga section, to assist in the process? And I think we are indeed onto something. Consider it done ^^ Sure - here's his name in kanji ‰GŠÛ˜@–ë Karasuma Renya - onyomi reading (I think) And here are the revelant exerpts from the japanese version so we can see what version is more accurate ;D (I'm sure its the english scanslation here) Sorry the furigana's so small - couldn't make the page much bigger because of imageshacks limit ^^;; If it wasn't a Kaitou story he appeared in I'd place him as most likely, not to be the boss of the org., but its founder. 40 years ago he was 99 so if can assume that Ai was dead serious when she thought about a project that the org. started 50 years ago then he might have started it. He'd have been 89, rich, and afraid of dying. Also the "craws" theme fits with the org. Conan is facing. Could it be that the one the org. is trying to raise from the stream of time is this Renya Karasuma? O.o *feels like we're on to something* EDIT: Been trying different options at www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi?9T for Renya Karasuma As a name> ‰GŠÛ y‚©‚ç‚·‚Ü‚éz Karasumaru =(Round crow) ˜@ y‚Í‚¿‚·z Hachisu (p,s) ( could also mean lotus) –ë y‚₸‚âz Yazuya (f) The "ma" part of Karasuma might also mean maru---->ŠÛ y‚Ü‚éz (n) (1) circle; (2) full (month); (3) perfection; purity; (4) suffix for ship names; (P) Karasumaru hmmm. that makes you think.... In "Nanatsu no ko" that is pretty much about crows there is a line with the word maru ... talking of a childs round eyes (in the song the crow's child)..... But what is downright disturbing is that Shin'ichi means "new one".... could he be the result of the project started half a century ago? because he is the reincarnation of the orgs founder without knowing it or maybe because he is the boy who lived? ( and no I'm not talking about Harry Potter XD) Also the karasuma part might be a nickname... So his name would be (not necessarily correct ^^; "Hachisu Yazuya" EDIT: I've been reading some very interresting things about crows and lotus flowers on wikipedia.... Seems like crows were considered to be highly intelligent birds in ancient time- also the colour black symbolized, believe it or not, knowledge..... lotus flowers seem to have had an importance for Hindus: "Hindus associate the lotus blossom with creation mythology, and with the gods Vishnu Brahma and Lakshmi. From ancient times lotus has been a divine symbol in Hindu tradition. Its unfolding petals suggest the expansion of the soul."
