hey im new to this board and i have been downloading a lot of dc from knightus's page. i like the effort put into this project and i will be contributing some of my efforts into re-editing the old chapters. you guys have great editors and i do not doubt your skills
however,
not to sound hostile or demanding or bossy ,i have some comments on the way typesetting is done. the following will be my opinion and my suggestions to make things look better. of course this is solely based on my experience doing typesetting. i am not a pro so you might not agree. but i think if we can agree to standardize certain things, it will make our dc manga much more neater.
first i'd like to point out what we should improve on:
1) we don't have an organized style (this is referring to font and font size)
2)most of the chapters have bad typesetting (more of this later)
3)*not so important* image sizes
to understand my points, we have to know that reading manga is not the same as reading a book. a book has lots of space for words. however that is not the case with manga. if words get too clustered or are put together in a messy way, it actually makes reading the harder, thus making the manga less fun.
so our main objective is to make it as pleasent to read as possible.
1) as i have noticed, more and more people are using wild words. and wild words are actually very nice to the eyes to read(for manga that is). so i would like to suggest that we standardize the font to be wild words.
2)we have to improve on typesetting skills. here is a good guide on tyepsetting (*not for the faint hearted though)

now, i'd like to suggest some of the most common typesetting issues that we can improve on:
a)words not following the bubble shape
words should always follow the bubble shape. however, that does not mean that we should use left/right align. it should always be center text.

b)split the sentences
ok, here is what i mean by clustered. i am aware that conan has lots of deduction thus having lots to say. this can be a problem for us. plz take note the picture below. yes, the text fits nicely in the bubble, but it is hard to read.

img410.imageshack.us/img410/3355/correctsplitthetext8dn.png - however, if we split it up, it becomes much easier to read.
c)have as little "cut off" words as possible
img410.imageshack.us/img410/6393/splitword2zk.png - should never have this kinda words. as long as there is space...
3)image size depends on people. most scanlation groups that i know uses 1100 pixels as height. however, people are beginning to use 1200 pixels or more since screen resolutions have been increasing. so you guys should try to decide.
plz comment on my suggestions. if you all agree, then we can all apply onto our editing.
