Well, iirc he was a huge business tycoon so maybe paranioa has led him to believe that a scandal like that would ruin him? Although I don't see how murder would work as a good cover up...
But then again not all the motives for murder have seemed plausible in Conan (I still don't understand the reasoning behind the murders in the Holmes fanatics case)
My memory's a little vague but did Hiroki believe that it would ruin Schneider? All I rememeber was that he just made the connection

I believe Hiroki (Hiroshi?) did not want the bloody that Jack the Ripper had, the same blood that gave motive for Schneider to kill.
