I think there was a thread about this before. I'm not too sure, but if there was then i'm sorry. This review about how the animators and script writers tried to make this movie. they didn't only reviewed on how they made the movie but how also funimation tried to dub it too. This review has called the movie in general a dud. read the whole article on Anime News Network site: www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/case-closed-the-moviePersonally, I think they give bad the movie a bad review because it was made in 1997 and they complain on the odd character designs. Back in those days they don't have as good effects/coloring/animation as they do now. I mean if they take a look at the more recent movies of DC, i'm sure it would look much better. I think it's mostly because they only licensed/released CC so late to the US in 2004 when in japan it's DC's 8th year. I kind of understand them how the music is just as odd as the character designs, but I personally think it's okay.

Well, DC was kinda primitive back then compared to today. But I don't think that was the general trend back then. I've seen at least three shows that started before Conan whose animation quality was better right from the first episode.
It's interesting to know that the reviewer's biggest problem is the lack of mysteries. That makes me think that particular reviewer will be pleased when the second movie will be released.
Btw.
Any idea what line the reviewer is alluding to?

The Conan movie was one of the best anime movies I have ever seen (and I watched the dubbed version)
I'm not even going to read that review, its obviously trash and will only make me more angry if I hear what was actually said.
sorry for the seething rage...but I just really love that movie LOL
its important that I remeber that it is really only the opinion of one person, and that it is not worth getting upset over

...I didn't think the review was THAT harsh. 0.o To me, it just sounds like the writer thought that there should have been more mystery involved, that's all.
That said, I haven't watched the movie yet, and I'm not going to let someone else's opinion influence my own. ...but I didn't know this movie was out yet so I want to see it now. XD

I think they should asked the people who had already seen it, like the fans of the anime. not these... stupid "high" class people in the anime industry who we don't even know who it is at all.

The reviewer didn't kill the movie. He (or she?) justly told their dislike and flaws of the film.
I wonder how he says the mystery was so easy. I mean you can find out that the architect was the culprit, but the motive is not there really to be sloved.
About CC/DC art. I liked the odd art of CC older episodes. So they got big ears and huge hands; never bothered me.
I also wonder about the Mori comment. What did he mean?

Heh, I had the motive solved before the villain's exposition rant. But, I've read The Fountainhead ( wiki). Seeing the villain as a Howard Roarke (or Frank Lloyd Wright) parody adds a whole level of humor to the movieā¦
