Is hakuba still a time freak like he was in the magic kaito manga and in the sunset mansion case in vol. 30? because in the East Detective case from the end of vol. 54- vol. 55 he didn't use his pocket watch at all. Maybe he'll use it in the file that's coming up or something.

It would be a miracle if he did stop.

In DC V54-11, it showed him checking a watch on his wrist only once, HoWeVer, in V55-1, page 12, he's got the time of each person leaving the table down to seconds. Therefore, it's pretty safe to conclude he's still obsessed.
As for the special--part 1 has only got one page of Hakuba; not much of a chance to show his time-fetish, eh?

Grammar policing: "fetish" has sexual connotations; I suppose that's not your intention.

There is more than one connoation for the word 'Fetish'. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/fetishIn this case, I think it's #3, "an irrational, or abnormal, fixation or preoccupation". Considering that he not only tracks seconds, but occasionally tenths of seconds, the term 'fetish' may be a bit strong, but not too far off. But as far as his still being a time freak, I think we're going to have to wait and see. Was severely disappointed in 'Detective Koushin' when he didn't have his pocketwatch... hopefully he'll have it back. ^__^

<3 Icka, yes! That's it exactly! Thanks for the save, I'm getting tired of having to explain myself *whew* Honestly, compared to my *never* knowing what the date is, much less the hour, Hakuba has got a time-fetish. As for the pocket watch... Hakuba just isn't Hakuba without it! (He can be Hakuba w/o the coat and hat, simply because they are so wierd)

I think the watch-thing, along with the "why did you do that?" line, is part of what made his character slightly boring in MK (hope that's not too controversial, cause it /is/ my POV). Also, did he even have a watch in Golden Eye?
I think most of us can agree if I were to say the G.E. arc was his biggest canonical character development as of today. His hawk was more interesting than the pocket-watches - too bad it disappeared after the "And Then There Were None"-ish arc in volume 30.
As I'm more into traditional pairings I saw him, when he first appeared in the second volume, as a rival for Aoko rather than of Aoko for Kaito. ; - )) It isn't too obvious that he plays that role when one reads the latest chapters he appears in - maybe Aoyama listens more to his fandom these days... who knows? XD I'm glad Aoko is in that chapter.... since 16th volume of DC it seemed as if she'd been written off the show. Considering KID and Nakamori appeared so often, she's underused in comparison to the impact she (and Akako, before I forget her) could have had to some of the storylines.
Lacking a more neutral word, Hakuba has a time-fetish. Also, I have a language fetish (both 'fetish' /and/ 'thrilled' can be used in a non-sexual way, depending the context ; P - that's an in-joke only Samuel is likely to understand if he remembers one of our discussions, that is) which is why I'd like to point out you repeated 'would' twice. And I can't see the first image <.< ... however the clocks in the second link all look cool. *____*

The lack of words: I would use "perseveration."
