KID vs. Conan gadgets

Hi people..

I'm new to this forum, but have been with manga for the first 4 years.. and rested for 5 years.. and just got back for catching up to both manga and movies this year (and just watched the 10th movies.. )

naw.. been wondering for a while.. my 1st question to this forum will be...

is KID High Technology Equipments are far more advance than Conan/Shinici Kudo's equiptments made by Prof. Agasa?
cuz, think about it.. we know that KID is not a black belt level of some martial arts or anything hence we have seen no hand to hand fighting of him so far..
2nd is that... Obiviously he is no a case analyzer/Detective kinda too..
and 3rd.. his expertise is this "magic" tricks... where that's why in this case I've been thinking that since this is his major area of expertise is doing "magic" tricks... then he must've been equipted with lots of lots of more advance high technology equiptments for him to perform such magic...

what do you guys think ?

It isn't a question, it's more a debate thread. Luckily for you, otherwise it'd have been locked.

I think there's a tie between them - so their gadgets must be equally good. Otherwise, either KID would be able to steal his targets, or Shinichi would be able to catch him.

Conan's equipment-
1) Watch with tranquiliser/flashlight
2) Suspenders that contract (though he hardly uses them anymore)
3) Ridiculously fast solar-powered skateboard (now with battery)
4) Strange shoes
5) Glasses w/ tracker, nightvision, (and at one point bulletproof?)
6) That wierd belt that shoots a temporary ball out
7) (sorta had a paraglider for movie 8)
I believe that's it...?

Kid's Equip--
1) Hanglider (most important XD)
2) Various smoke bombs
3) Masks, alternate clothing, etc
4) Cardgun
5) Dummies
6) Balloon things
7) That odd scooter thing that showed up in ch1?2? and was never seen again
8) Explosives
9) Timers, detonators (though not necessarily for the above)
10) The ever important Hat! And Monocle! XD
I think that's it...

If you want to go for sheer technical marvel, I'd say that Conan's equipment is more advanced (though don't ask me how Kid has that hanglider hooked up)

You forgot the MOST important Conan gadget: sound-changer bowtie. Agasa also made a kind of speaker which is wireless-ly connected to the bowtie, so when Kogoro is at an inconvenient position Conan can just stick the speaker on Kogoro and speak as Kogoro as usual.

Detective Boys' wideless badge is also an Agasan gadget, even it isn't anything too marvellous.

Conan also had a Lunchbox Fax (Vol 8) and a earring Cellphone (15). But the first is totally obsolute by the virtue of mobile email, and for the latter being superceded by usual cellphones.

The fact that Conan has more advanced gadgets is obvious, but 'better' is such a broad term. In what way? I would say the lack of technology is made up for with Kid's skills.

I'd say generaly Conan's gadgets are more advanced, with the exception of Kid's handglider. If I can take any of their gadgets I would take Conan's skateboard, those glasses with tracker, the watch, and Kid's handglider. The card gun is also very tempting, but the watch has a similar function.

In my own opinion, both of them have cool gadgets. There's not much to compare, though their gadgets have their own unique and differences, I still love all of the gadgets.

Think we played with that in a fic once... crap... um... 'The Price You Pay', I think. The first one. *tugs on hair, trying to remember*

Kid's ability to change his voice without electronic aid = Conan's Voice Changing Tie
Kid's pink sleeping gas = Conan's sleeping darts
Kid's powered roller skates/scooter = Conan's powered skateboard

Which is kind of ironic, since MK was created over 10 years before DC came about.

Um... to my knowledge, we have seen no evidence or heard anything about Kaito taking martial arts. Most of the stunts he pulls tend to be along the gymnastics line. (splits, high flexiblity, jumps, etc) ^^;;

I could be wrong, if it's stated somewhere, please feel free to point it out and correct me.

In 'Golden Eye', Chat Noir comments that for a thief, he talks like a detective.

In 'The Magician Lover's Case', Kid comments that "It can't be helped, I'm not a detective and you're also sick.", while talking about the murder.

I think a lot of his earlier stuff, like what you see in volumes 1-3 of Magic Kaito are things that his father built.
The later stuff, in Volume 4 and in Detective Conan are tricks that Kaito made himself, based off the technology that his father created.

However, I definitely believe that the Kid does Magic, not just sleight-of-hand. After all, it's in the name of the series, isn't it? ~_^
