I think I should open a new thread here, owing to the board's inactivity.
Kid always weat a top hat. Even when he is flying on a glider, etc. How can he be sure that his hat don't fall off?

I've wondered that before... if he glues it on, uses velcro, metal snaps in his skull, some form of disguise magic or if the hat's simply a size too small and is stuck on his head, requiring a shoe horn or the equivalent to get it off....

It's likely rather tight around his head, elastic perhaps. If the hat is what I think it is, it doesnt have the mass to be whisked away by anything short of a tropical storm.

It's magic! Oi, I was actually thinking of that today when reading one of Icka's fics. ("...the hat miraculously staying on.") Maybe he attaches it to his hair with something, since the hair's so messy :D.

Maybe he attaches it to hid hair with something, since the hair's so messy :D. It's his hair! His hair is holding his hat to his head!!! *squashes comment about hair = tentacle monsters and suction cups*Think the theory my Voices hold to when it comes to Kid and no one reconising him is that it's a kind of Glamour. (not the Sailor Moon kind, but more like the Elven Fairy Tale kind) One that says 'don't see me, don't see me, shadows cover the face'. Cause otherwise, we have this image of him quickly running around a room, calculating angles so that the shadows cover his face -just so-, hiding features, and possibly holding a hand mirror reflecting a small beam of light so that his face has that perfect highlight.

The hair holds it on because its so sticky from all the gel. It also has small hook-like ends.

Well, I always knew there was a reason Kaito was so insane. Now, if we could only explain me...
Didn't we have this discussion before? I remember someone commenting how they once watched a Jazz show or something, and even through all their miraculous moves, their tophats stayed in place.
Edit to add: Amusingly enough, right after I posted this there were two adds proclaiming both "Find Kids Hat! We have kids hats!" And "Kids hat!"

He might use a strong gel in his hair.

... well also, on multiple accounts, KID simply tips the hat with his hand... or stables the hat with his fingers.
I always thought the hat is somehow connected with KID's monocle. The monocle glass has a string, which leads down into a gadget on the back of KID's neck, and can launch either the glider wings, or his cape will fall (that sort of thing)
And the hat is also connected with his tuxedo, and is part of the same outfit.
The gel thing doesnt work, because KID's hair clearly sways in the wind, just like Conan's hair does. Also the idea of using messy hair to "tangle" the hat so it stays in place is kinda gross.
A hat like that gripping tightly to your head? That also wouldnt work... I've tried it. Last year I was at a dress up party and I dressed up as the Black Kaito (every piece of clothing in black... even the monocle !) The hat I specifically made so that it can fit my head enough so that it wouldnt fall even if I jumped... but it HURT LIKE CRAZY! its really uncomfortable. XD
I also believe the hat contains secret conpartments in which smoke bombs, pigeons, flowers, and other props are stored. Though I'm not as sure about this idea as the one above.

I actually cosplay as Kid and I have wondered how his hat stays on, too. Especially when he hangs upside down.
Mine stays on because 1.) I have thick hair with lots of volume (kind of like him, I guess) and 2.) the inner edge where the brim and cylinder meet is where the fabric comes together. As it so happens, it is elastic and kind of form fitting, as a result.
The only guess I can make is he shoves is down on his head so it is wedged on. It would be less likely to fall off then.
