First of all, if you haven't finished reading the book and hate spoilers, why the heck are you on the internet?? Uhh, yeah. My reaction to DH. Love it? Hate it? Apathetic? Your favorite/least favorite? Views on themes? Wtf on Dumbledore? Discuss. Please remember that this is supposed to be a kids book. So if you didn't like it for not being "adult" enough and are over 18...well, it has a bunch of wizards throwing magic spells at each other. And people transforming into animals. What did you expect?

Neville was amazing....
Dumbledore...is scheming old man...but he's still great!

yes...i do feel sorrow for snape's death..but i don't get why he made the unforgivable vow to Narcissa Malfoy...

^ i agree! well, the idea of mixing the names of the 2 best headmasters hogwarts ever had was nice but i also thing that albus severus didn't sound to well together... maybe i just need a little more time to get used to it. a number of people i know also didn't like the epilogue very much. it wasn't brilliant but it was okay for me. But like what others think, the book could have had been ended in a much better way It would give Bellatrix more reason to suspect Snape's loyalty i think... the king's cross part? well at least now, moony, padfoot and prongs are together lol huhu..snape died...but if he didn't die, harry wouldn't have had found out the truth...

I agree with all of the above. ^_^ I loved DH...
But what I thought was really lame was Voldemort's death. Okay, please don't kill me, but I think they could have done so much more than a wand backfiring. Seriously.
Maybe that was because the climax of the book was NOT Voldy's death, but actually the part wherein Harry "dies" and Dumbledore comes to talk to him.
I loved the epilogue too, but I think the reason some people thought it was cliched was because there were so many fanfics of that sort, way before Hallows was even published. So it's probably not because JK's an unimaginative writer as they say.
The deaths that hit me: Lupin, Tonks, Dobby, Hedwig, Fred...and so much more...

man...Dobby died a sad death...
i agree about the part with the wand backfiring....they shoulda done more..maybe a duel..and Harry need to thin of using some other spell other than Expelliarmus...
even after reading the book...like twice..i still don't get how Harry was alive after Voldy hit him with the killing curse...it's something about Lily's love...
what surprised me is the fact that Snape loved Lily...
and i wonder...why did harry name his kids after his mom and dad? what about Ginny??

After my total disappointment with HP5 (and I'll admit, I really got high hopes for it, too high I suppose), I stopped expecting too much from the books after. I think DH wasn't a bad read per se, but the Harry vs Voldemort confrontation seemed a bit too ... easy, somehow. I think it was cool that Harry named one of his kids for both Dumbledore *and* Snape... I was relieved Harry didn't die, nor Ron nor Hermione (which was one of my secret fears). What blew me away was how Lily's sister is *the same* person as mrs. Super-gotta-conform-"Dudder's"-mom! Picturing that woman from the movies as a young girl is... mind-boggling, a bit! And that realization only occurred to me some time *after* I'd given DH to my brothers to read, so I couldn't re-read those bits right then and there either.

I admit, like a lot of people, I was disappointed by the very end. The whole war scene I liked (even if four of my favorite characters died ;.; ).
It felt like most of the book was "they camped her, and then they cleaned up and camped there. Then they camped again."
It did have it's moments, though. [/font]

Hp7 is quite known for its massive list of deaths...but I reckon JK Rowling carried the deaths well. When I thought "damn, theres too many deaths in this book" but thinking back, if there was too many deaths in the previous books, the book would have a darkish atmosphere and wouldn't be suprising if the last book had more deaths. Shame that dobby had to die, he was too powerful as a free elf, had all the powers...
lol, 70% through the book, I've always thought the rate of destroying the horcruxes was just too slow, I think they only destroyed 3 by that time and had like 4 extremely difficult ones to destroy...guessed it had to be rushed at the end...hmmm...
It was quite weird in the end where the names James, Lily, Albus Severus...etc... but it was a pretty nice ending, I wished Harry played Quidditch...
