Problem/Plot: The Story Executioner’s Game is about agent Luther Green, an operative for the anti-terrorist Agency called E-1. The Agency is so covert even to the government of the United States. After done with a mission Green is set up with another mission. This mission will challenge his belief. The Mission is to eliminate his old mentor Alex Deavers. Deavers is accused of terrorism after a failed mission in Africa. So Luther is confronted with a chose of eliminating his old friend and mentor or finding the truth within the mission.
During the Mission, Luther is lead to his hometown in the City of Detroit. From there Alex has challenged Luther by involving his family under the E-1 rule: Use the personal contacts against the target to complete the mission. Lethal action maybe used at will. So Alex had made Luther’s family against him. So Luther is face with the dilemma of protecting his family and accomplish his mission. The turning point of the story is that when Luther figures out what Deavers is doing along. Deavers has info of a secret fountain called the Wells Fountain been draining Africa’s Resources. Wells had found out that the whole continent was one of the last resources. So without preventing a world war, they have been planting Aids in Africa in order to take over it. Since Alex knew about this Kilmer had to get rid of him. If the information comes out that the foundation has been doing this. America will face humiliation since it’s a world power. So Alex shares this with Luther. Now Kilmer has sent a “clean up” crew to kill Luther and Deavers.
Since Alex had involved Luther and his family they have been targets for the clean up crew. Luther had to protect his family by planting a bomb near the house and calling the police to the scene. Sine the crew can’t make a hit in public eyes. They decided to go ahead and kill Luther. Meanwhile Alex and Luther had found the file with contained with the information. But something went wrong, Alex had disappeared, and the clean up crew went to one of Luther’s childhood friends Vanessa Brown. So Luther has to protect her. So at the near of the end of the story Luther has to face off against the deadliest of the E-1 agency. So after he subdues them, he headed over to the headquarters at Washington to confront Kilmer. After Kilmer is confronted, Luther strikes a deal with the American Government. He’ll keep quite and the government will provide aid to the countries in Africa.
Overall the book is about Luther an agent who do any mission without question, was challenged with he came across a mission that involves his old mentor that taught him everything thing he knew about assassination and about stealth combat. So he is face with a hard decision. Also since he left his family, his family had fallen apart. His brother was into drugs; his sister had two kids by two different men and his other bother into crime. So after hearing the news, he was distracted from the mission. I like the story because it was a mix of the two types of genres, hood and espionage story. The author really made Luther Green stand out. This book is equal to Tom Clancy classic novels.
The author Gray Hardwick was born the City of Detroit much like Luther himself. Hardwick comes from the family of twelve. Hardwick attended Michigan University with a major in English. He had written Dark Semester while in college. Although it was his first novel it was never published. After Michigan University, he went to Wayne State Law School to study law. Hardwick had to do stand-up comedy to pay for his education. Hardwick published his first novel Cold Media in 1996. His other works was Double Dead, Colors of Justice and Supreme Justice. When he went to California to become an attorney, his first screenplay was the movie Trippin’ (1999). Then after that he did the screenplay for The Brothers in 2001. Jamie Fox is rumored play as Luther Green in the movie adaptation of Executioners game.
