Since Japanese Fanart is illegal to post without asking, I added a new rule to the Forum Rules. We should tell ppl that they MUST ask before posting. Anyone disagree? >> And as for the asking, some ppl say that they don't ask because they don't speak Japanese. We should get someone in this fourm who can Japanese, to write a stanard letter which ppl can use to ask for permission. After that, they can use Babelfish to translate the answer. Fx: I saw your fanart on _____ , may I ask for permission to use it on ______? i coppyed this from janni-chan.....just want u all read b4 post and plz don post the picture in other board.....u allow to post pictures in picturs board only ....... and this board allow to post picture of detective conan and aoyama's works only Thank you for readding ^___^

hotlinking 101 for the unaware (because we're all unaware at one point):
When you post a picture up on a message board, the picture is then downloaded from the host servers. Which means when you veiw it. And when whoever views the message board views it. Say then, someone replies to that post, with the picture as a quote. Which means the picture is now downloaded twice, every time you view that page. And when who ever else views that page. Whenever they view that page. The amount of bandwidth that draws from the host server to the message board can become quite high. Which is fine if it's something like a sig pic from your server. But if it's someone else's server, their bandwidth --which is usually used for people to view their site-- is rapidly eaten up. ANd there's only a limited amount of bandwidth alloted per month. Which means that who ever is on the other end can end up with their site either being shut down for for weeks or charged a lot of money out of their pocket for over use of bandwidth. (personally knew someone who suddenly found themselves with a $900 fee because of hot linking) Simply because someone wanted to show people the amazing art that they'd found and thought was really cool.
... it might be a good idea in general to post the links to various fanart instead of the fanart itself. Not only will that avoid stealing people's bandwidth, but the pages will load much faster.
[The above was posted by Icka-san. So please, it's also better if you have the pictures uploaded at TinyPic.com, Imageshack.us, Photobucket.com or anywhere else and post THOSE so bandwidth would not be stolen. Thank you.]
