That "Questions you have in DC" thread is kind of getting bloated. I’m wondering if we shouldn’t limit discussion in that threat to question->answer (factual or speculative)->…->eventual redirection of further discussion to a new or existing relevant thread. There are good ideas that are getting harder to refer to as the thread grows, and expecting newcomers to slog through the thread to look for answers and avoid repetitive discussion is a bit unreasonable.
What do you folk think? Obviously, an overly cluttered General Discussion board isn’t much better, so, I’m not sure how long discussions about a question should last before encouraging new threads.

What do you folk think? Obviously, an overly cluttered General Discussion board isn’t much better, so, I’m not sure how long discussions about a question should last before encouraging new threads. How about using it as a way to point at threads that might answer those questions, rather than an actual discussion thread. I have to admit, I've had a fair amount of difficulty figuring out who is speculating what because of the size but that seemed to be the place everyone was discussing the matter. It's too bad the forum doesn't thread things more effectively but that's the way it is and it does require some cooperation on the part of the users. If there was a way to move posts from one thread to another, that would simplify the matter too, unfortunately, I suspect that's not possible. As a modest suggestion, lock that thread, start a new one that's used as a pointer thread and have someone start a separate thread for each question. If there are questions discussed earlier in the thread, point to that area of the old thread.

Obviously the current discussions in the "Questions you have in DC" thread is an extension of questions that arose earlier and since we get back to answer new questions now and then I honestly do not see what is wrong in using that thread the way it is being used.
My suggestion: However, if it really bothers you then someone (*not* me) could go trough the thread and find all the questions that have been answered and make FAQ-thread instead and make that a sticky. I would really like to continue to discuss DC the way we do in the questions thread if that doesn't bother you. I wouldn't mind the changes if there still existed a topic to discuss DC theories and the likes - might be called "DC theories discussion"(would have to be a sticky too). If that happened and the two threads were actively used then I wouldn't mind if the "Questions you have in DC thread" was un-stickied.

Kentaru's idea sounds good. Maybe you guys can have 2 threads; one for facts and the other for theories. Then that might lower the post down abit.
And if someone is willing to sort through all the posts to make a simple FAQ page then that's even better XD

Heh, reading though the thread to see if there are any frequently asked questions that have straightforward, not controversial answers, I notice that Shuu’s “koibito” and the meaning of James Black’s “lost” are very old, often revived topics, and that it really has been mainly an ideas thread, from the very start. It’s still getting more and more difficult to find and refer back to some important observations, like Meitantei Mina’s observation about the meaning of James Black’s use of “lost” in reference to Shuu’s “koibito” on page 50 of that thread. I don’t know, if the other participants in the thread are comfortable with the way it’s working now, I guess that it’s working okay. I’ll just start book marking the observations that tend to become relevant to later discussions.

Hmm, I guess you can use the search function as well ne? Just search for a word that will only appear in the topic discussed
