I read in a site, that Gosho will end MK after he is done with DC. But I wouldn't mind if MK and DC finish them BOTH at the same time n_n Mur. I'd wish it would be a a longer series... well, it's better to keep it little shorter than if it wouldn't have an end at all >__>

It wouldn't be interesting without Conan sticking in and foiling everything...

Magic Kaito was Gosho's first series, done around 1987... The date for MK's start is correct but I don't think it's the first story he drew. "wait a minute" and probably a lot of his other short stories were drawn before MK.

no I don't think that's it. I think it's because detective conan is more serious than Magic kaito. Perhaps his art style is reflecting the more serious tone? You're not seeing the big goofy demon heads like you used to earlier in the series as much either. Kid's gizmos are becoming more complex too, he's not using his blow up dolls anymore either. (I miss those things ;_; )

Uh-huh. Now he uses that robot doll. Wonder how he made it? That's like quicker than mankind O.o Robot Doll? The one in volume one, chapter three, 'Clockwork Heart' or the puppet for 'Kaitou Kid's Miracle Mid-air Walk' in DC volume 44. ... Okay, I didn't need to look up any of that information... *wanders off and beats head against wall*

Oh, hey...
Read an interesting thing while checking out the Japanese Wikipedia.
They made a comment about one of the reasons for the 'change' in personality is because Magic Kaito is done from Kaito's view point, while in Detective Conan, those same antics are from Conan, or an outsider's point of view.
So it is possible that things on Kaito's end are still as silly and goofy as ever, but because we're being shown what Conan sees, it doesn't look like it.
-just a thought.

Kaito does occasionally have goofy smilies when confronting Conan, but usually he has on his "poker face".
