Attention all mods, super mods and admin.
It has come to my (and others) attention that in the DC General Discussion threads... there has been many cases of MAD posting by new users...
I (we) will not name names... but threads that have been going for weeks are pushed to page 2, making the people that ACTUALLY were interested in those topics unable to find the threads.
We hope that you can do something about this. BY THE WAY the threads on page 2 were LAST REPLIED on march 29! which wasn't TOO OLD for our forum.
Thank you, and have a good day.

We know that they are noobs flooding, and I closed a few threads today. To post in threads on page 2 is not against the rules, but when noobs do such things is truely annoying.... I think I'll keep a better eye on that board.

How I judge:
If the thread is on pages 1-4, it's not totally dead. It may be unconcious on pages 2-3 and in a comma on page 4, but I don't lock them if someone revives them from those pages. However, on pages 5+, those are stone, cold, dead. If you revive them, you are only creating a zombie that no one wanted back.

Check the dates of the last post.

what if someone has something to say in an old thread? if they post it in a thread that is on, e.g., the 5th page, a mod will lock it. but if they start a new thread, someone will say something like "we have alreayd got a thread like this. ~LOCKED~".

When they see the previous thread is there, mods would be lenient. And the Page 4 rule is only tentative.

PM me and I'll unlock it if you want. As long as you have a new view to add to it. Generally, when a thread is on the fifth page, it's from a couple of months ago.

Judging from my experiences on forums, I don't think it's inevitable to have a lot of spams in the forum. Some people of course have never been into places like these, and they may not know what spamming or flaming is yet. The problem is, they may keep on doing it even after seeing others who have done it get warns.

i may be lil now...but im trying to grow in the ranks and my status....i have the same feeling for n00bs as well, having encountered them wherever i go...although newbs i feel should understand what it is the more experienced and longer running members wish...so that they dont become n00bs themselves....it is a hassle to see a thread created but have it be pushed back by many other threads of nonsene, or to have a very well going thread disappear...i mean people can make a mistake....but they learn their lessons....n00bs sadly arent like that...and either ignore said lessons or deside never to learn anything....i dont recall how many times ive been having conversations when somone will post the most obscure and crazy thing....it tends to be in caps as well...ive learned that one can often pick out who the n00bs are by the amount of caps there are, the lack of spelling and just what they are saying...meaing how they make a statement without generally any facts or nothing to back up what they speak of.....im not putting this forth that all people are like that...ive known many who cant spell....but it is the reasoning of someone states...and a n00b goes in and states what they want, as does everyone else....but instead of using knowledge and wit they just get angry if their statement is brought to question....i truly despise getting into fights with n00bs...its soooo much trouble....
anyway...im glad i now know exactly what the thoughts on the thread revival is....i really am not one for raising the dead and i dont like getting in trouble....but i agree with *~NiCkY~* has to say....many things are quite dead and yet the need to speak of it comes up....exactly what is the policy on that?
