@.@ You got that? I wasn't sure I worded it right.
Hmm. Well, DC isn't really about hyperactive boys who sometimes get chased around classrooms with mops, is it? It's more logical, and besides, he was with Aoko(sorry if I'm getting this wrong, I've never seen his first appearance.), right? So maybe they were out together as friends and Kaito just...wasn't hyper. Even my friend Devon(who's as much on the hyperactive side as anyone) can be normal and behaved when she wants to be. It's not like Kaito's ADD.
Another reason: Kaito's been Kid for awhile there, and has calmed somewhat. He has something to vent his unspent energy on, so thats bound to be calming.
I've also been brainwashed into having a few favorite AU's. Conan being a Shinigami is one of them. Kaito being a Kitsune is another.

Hmm...I wonder what spured Aoko's first Kaito chase, and how a mop became the prefered object?
I wanna see more of Koizumi. She's underapreciated and has therefore become one of my favorite characters. Don't you think so?
Wanna see more MK in general, actually. More heists, more Hakuba, momre character development...

Agree with you moochan. I'm into a MK funk lately @_@
I guess Kaito tried to flip her skirt XD And since they were at school.... probably, say, they were on duty to clean the classroom, Aoko's closest weapon was the mop! n_n Simple! ;D

Hm, why not the broom then?...
Anyways, mops probably signify something. Not sure what yet...

Well, in Hikaru no Go Hikaru came out of the bathroom and rushed a kid who was tearing up the Go Club poster up with the toilet mop. Maybe Aoko was cleaning the toilet? Or they were cleaning the classroom and had to mop it that day?
*thinks*
Or maybe they weren't cleaning at all but Kaito flipped her skirt in the hall and Aoko took the mop from a nearby janitor:
"KAIIIIIIITOOOO!!!!!!!"
Kaito grinned, running down the hallway and away from a fuming Aoko. He passed the janitor, moping the floors at the end of a long school day, and turned for a moment, running backwards. "Ja matte, Mokoto-san!" he cheered, saluting him as he passed.
Aoko skided(?) to a halt next to the uniformed man, blinking. "Can I borrow that?" she asked, pointing to the mop.
The janitor pointed too, looking down at the cleaning implimint he held. He shrugged, then handed it over.
"Thanks."
Kaito, who had stopped to watch her talk, gave her an upside-down grin, before bouncing slightly on his palms. "Watcha gonna do?" he asked, still grinning, "Mop me up?"
She nodded to both of them, before speaking to Mokoto-san, "I promise I'll bring it back."
Kaito's left eyebrow shot up(down?) and he balanced himself on one hand to scratch his neck. What was she planning to do?
Aoko raised the mop, and gave an agrivated battle cry, "KAIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!" She charged, swinging at him as she did so.
Kaito's eyes nearly popped out of his head, and he doged once, righting himself to stand on his feet and run away properly.
Mokoto-san never did get that mop back. ------------------- Bunnies tell me it started in the second year of middle school. And that Aoko stole Makoto-san's mop. They refuse to tell me why Kaito's on first name basis with the Janitorial staff, though.
Had to do it. Wouldn't leave me alone. Stupid Plunnies >.<!!!

Yes. A Plunnie is a Plot Bunnie. I hate them >.<!!!! They won't leave me alone! And what is a plot bunny? Are they related to the monsters under your bed? What about the copious amount of wax in your ears?

... What? Excuse me if I'm distracted, I'm stil trying to figure out SOMEONE'S *cough*Mac*cough* earlier referance to bicycle spokes in my Topic 'Referance Materail'. But anyway... Plot Bunnie: An idea for a story. It takes the form of a bunny for some reason or another. Mine have red eyes, long ears, sharp claws and fangs. The Monsters Under My Bed? I don't have monsters under my bed. Not sense I was three... Why can't I seem to understand you?!!?!?!!!!?!?! Whats with the referance to me having wax in my ears?!!? @.@'''''

A plot bunnie is a story idea. Kinda like dust bunnies, if you ignore them, they multiply. And they've got HUGE FANGS that refuse to let go once they get attached to you. <-- voice of experiance.
Hey, Mac? Have you ever looked into any of Gosho's other series? Such as Yaiba? (s'kinda like DBZ with swords, but that's putting it short)
Magic Kaito was Gosho's first series, then Yaiba, then he did a few more MK, then he started on DC and has gone back do doing MK at random intervols. Both MK and Yaiba are very fantasy orientated series, very heavy on the comedy. If you watch compare DC early manga with the current art, you'll notice that the early stuff is a lot more comedic and the character designs reflect this. Screaming over sized heads, Ran knocking over telephone poles, etc. This fades out and is almost completely gone in current episodes.
And thanks for the vote of confidence in explaining, Moochan. *sweatdrops*

M'kay, talked to Ysabet. Both her and my theory (tho my theories will tend to fluxuate, to fit what ever we're doing at the moment) is that MK is Kaito's 'apprenticeship'. It's when he's first starting out. If you notice, even the clothing he's wearing seems to be big for him. As you get towards the end of the MK series, most notiably 'Blue Birthday', things get more serious and suddenly he's not just bouncing around collecting random objects, he's got a purpose. To find the Pandora Stone before his father's killers do, and destroy it. DC reflects that. He's more serious now, more focused. It's not just fun and games any more, now there are people who are trying to kill him, not just capture him. Even watching him as Kaito with his interactions with Aoko, he's not as flamboyant as he was. *pushes favorite authors out in front of her* YOU explain it! *leaves Becky Tailwever, Icka M. Chif, and Ysabet to explain and fend for themselves against confused members* *chuckles* the reason for the sweat drop is that neither Becky or Ysabet are on any of the forums. Becky's also recently moved and gotten a full time job leaving her with very little free time and massive brain fry. Ysabet's going through chemo for cancer and is sleeping lots. (I'm her roommate) M'the only one of the three on the forums, and I'm the least logical one! #^^# Also only get here about once a month to check news and such... on a 28kps dail-up modem and the pages here are so big I can't do anything else while it loads, which takes forever. ^^; but if you do have pressing questions, you can catch me on livejournal, I check there more often than e-mail. www.livejournal.com/~ickaimp/
