well, that didn't really answer my question. I was wonderinf why the ID was still on genta I wondering if the ID's were really real or not, because the detective didn't die but yet genta's ID exploded. OK, I clarify some things. - Genta went to the bathroom when the police was collecting the IDs. Look he wiped his hands around that time.
- The police didn't know Sonoko owned a non-exploding ID; they didn't know Sonoko wasn't summoned by Itoh.
- So they miscalculated the amount of explosive IDs.

okay, my post wasn't quite clear, but that does explain how the ID was still on genta. but what I was wondering about if the ID were really real or not? if they're real then how come he didn't let the detective to die? if he that nice to fake the detective's death then why put a bomb on genta and the kids?

Itoh: Kudo-kun, you are the best detective. Conan: You are the worse human being.
I'm sure Itoh wanted the best detective there was, he went through ways to trying to communicate with Shinichi for that. Perhaps people like Ryu wern't so famous or skillful as Kogoro or Shinichi. Itoh is a criminal, and will act like one and has the ability to make special things with his money. Making the kids as hostage was necessary imo.
