Oh boy does that thread bring back memories.
My first anime ever was Dragonball & DBZ - when my family was visiting friends I remember that the oldest boy in that family showed me several video games (Aladdin amongst others I don't remember). But that wasn't the only thing! He had all the volumes of dragonball that had been published until then in France... I read some volumes around the Piccolo Daimao saga and I really liked it, so I bought the first volume I saw in a supermarket (19). Also, most kids my age watched it then, so I started watching it too (around the Cell saga).
Also, around the same time, I think I watched some episodes of Nicky Larson (City Hunter). Dunno if I saw other anime shows (some of them can have been anime - you never know when a show is produced in Japan or not)
Biiiiig jump in time - 1999, Pokemon in Denmark (as DBZ in france) was becoming impossible to avoid, so I started watching that too. Then came the shows on RTL2 and M6 + some others that I first found out later were anime. I saw everything you can imagine in that period: DBZ, Pokemon, CCS, One Piece, Nadia and more I wouldn't mention here. Also I saw this cool anime called "Detektiv Conan" ^^.... believe it or not it was thanks to DC and Digimon that I learned German. Around that time I got an internet connection!! First thing I looked for were CCS sites.... searching after more DC sites I stumbled upon the first scanslations of it. After reading many scanslations I found out that I was more into "seinen manga".... but then the Haloween arc came, and thats the main reason I kept watching Conan. Lately I got into Studio Ghibli and I have seen almost all their movies.
[/end of rant]
(oooops... only the first anime we ever saw? ^^;;; )
