Dear Mods, Super Mods and Admins.
I've noticed in the past few days a major amount of name calling and putting downs in this forum we all share and have charished for over 2 years...
And most of the discontent stem from the fact that some new people are posting more in order to gain stars in their profile... and the older accounts cannot see themselves post as many.
This can be solves by 2 ways:
1) take away the post count, and base the stars on frequency of use*? (dont use this idea) or take away the stars all together... but that would anger too many people.
2) take away the "joined.." date, because if that is taken away, no one can get offended by a "newbie", "noob", etc. And some new users DO have lots of information about DC that they can share... but probably will be ignored based on their noob status.
I don't know how hard these measures can take, but it is better that the problem is addressed.
Thank you for your time.
M

I hope it's okay that I jump in and a second the second option. I guess I'm fairly new here and recently I've been discouraged from adding to discussion because of the fact that I'm new and wouldn't want to be looked at as if I'm just grubbing for a post count or something to that effect. Though taking away the stars might be better I do agree that not many people would like that. (Especially people who have been here forever) So the second option, if possible, is favorable. Sorry if I'm being a bother ^^;;

It's not a problem . The problem is your feelings M. Even if you didn't see the number of the posts you'll directly think that there're still old members and you'll still feel not OK about it so I think you should Deal with it .

um... I feel all right towards people's post count... Just not the Joined date. It doesnt prove how mature the person is in real life...
and the post count and stars are a measure of the person's activity, so it should both stay... ... tech-dude, I dont think you get what I mean... or if you did, something is proventing you from seeing this problem from a wider angle.
maybe some of the users never have that problem, but its there, and all Im saying is that we need to think of some solutions.

Sorry if I'm being a bother ^^;; I am a fairly old member (not really, only 5 months), and I have suggestions for you. First, feel free to post your opinions, if you post a meaningful and understanding one, then your post stands out and you will be noticed. If you want post count, then play the games in the Non Conan board-- you can gain lots of post count from them. Third, I myself think that you will be noticed b/c your post above is complete, good grammar and punctuation, no chat/leet speak,... So be happy and post whatever good opinions that you want I'm good with newbies but not noobs, that's all. You're not a noob, and I see that. As for the things M. posted, fine, but just take away our join dates. I worked so hard for my stars, you know!

You'll get stars for how much you post - we won't change that. What's wrong about being new? Not everybody is saying noob or newbie to be mean. And why the post count? What does this have to do with anything? It doesn't offend anyone or somthing. Actually I think it's a nice idea to have a join date.... perosnally I like seeing how long people have been here - it helps me when I delete people who have not used to teir accounts or who never signed in after they joined!!

If so many things bother you so much you have to inform others, well then.. you're an asshat. Btw, thanks for pointing out the obvious! You've only 'cherished' it for a few months. So what can you say to this? Learn more about this forum and forums in general is my suggestion.

You've only 'cherished' it for a few months. So what can you say to this? Learn more about this forum and forums in general is my suggestion. Exactly what I was talking about. I was only trying to be a little sensitive to others... and where else can I post my opinions and comments than on this board? Explain your ideas and comments nicely, and since you are mods also, you should do it in a even more polite way. Don't bash people on this board. This part of the forum is meant for saying things like this. what's wrong with you? but I guess its impossible for the mods to change this, because you are all so very against it. XD whatever... I'll learn to live with the people who make the rules.

I'm not sure it would be possible to get rid of that even if the mods and admins did agree to it. Isn't it something that automatically comes with proboards sites? *Tilts*

Sabrina: there's a "Show joined date" in profile modifying. There you go. If you want to hide your join date, hide it yourself. Sweet.

@ Tracy: No there isn't, I wouldn't have made this thread if it did.
The mods can look at my joined date, I actually dont have a problem with them investigating me.

I'll learn to live with the people who make the rules. I cannot stand idiotic comments such as this and I don't really think you have any right to tell me what I can and cannot say just as I cannot do to you. Choose your words more wisely and learn a few things before you speak is all I can say, which just so happens to be what I said to you. I'm correcting you more or less. Others will have comments against your own comment, whether it's an insult to you or not. Learn to deal with it, and learn to deal with my comments towards this. I'm sure most of the people here aren't as truthful as others on other forums, the way I see it. Asshat. Focker..... out!

wtf... this has become the flame war between me and you, Fruits.
back to my idea in the beginning, I only wanted to see if removing the joined dates thing could make a positive change in our forum, but noooo. Well all right then, I stopped asking for change.
And in my last comment, I thought I meant ---> "I will learn to deal with it."
so why are you telling me this again? All you had to do was to tell me no you cannot change the dates, and why. But you just had to say your asshats and fockers.
So FOCK you too, jeez, I didn't want this to be such a big deal in the first place, goddam.

The last line is from a movie called "Meet the Fockers" and it ends Ben Stiller's (Greg's) speech. It's also a term of I rest my case, but I had to post to correct because you took it wrong. Lalalalala...

You Do realize that your end of speech only work on people who have seen that movie...
And "Asshat" isnt a word. It would have been easy for anyone who doesnt speak your language to misinterpret your words for what they could be in real english.
