As a relative newcomer to this site I have no idea if this has been discussed before, but since I've been thinking about it a bit lately I thought I would get some opinion.
So here's the question : What do you think the Black Organization's true plan is?
This is something that's been simmering in the back of my mind for a long time, but it seems to me, especially after all the hints Haibara has dropped, that the Black Organization is up to more than carrying out contract killings.
Even since Shinichi was first shrunk into Conan i've wondered of APTX4869 was really meant to be simply a new poison. I mean, the Organization would already have many poisons available to them, and i'm sure they have one more efficent than APTX4869 seems to be, especially with this 'side-effect' of shrinking people.
So what is the true point of APTX4869? Is it really a new poison? Or is it something much worse? We know it turned Shinichi and Haibara into children, but they were teens to begin with. What if the drug's side-effect isn't just that it shrinks you into a child. what if it's a consistant 10 year de-aging from your current age?
If this is true it would explain Vermouth not having aged since Jodie saw her as a little girl. Perhaps the Organization is attempting to create an immortality drug. Something that reveses aging. Vermouth's seemingly eternal youth might indicate that she was or possibly still is a test subject for their drugs.
Perhaps she was given a previous incarnation of APTX4869 and that's why she has remained the same age for years. This would also explain why she might harbor resentment for the Organization and why she might choose to secretly help Shinichi by feeding him information and withholding his identity form the other operatives. She wants to be set free, and only the destruction of the Organization can do this, but if she has become dependant on whatever drug they have her on then it would also explain why she hasn't defected like Haibara. She can't. She needs the Organization to contiue supplying her with whatever chemical she's taking.
This is of course all my speculation and deduction based on what's been shown. It just doesn't seem likely to me that gosho would make Jodie point out to us that Vermouth hasn't aged a day since she was a kid if it didn't mean anything. It also seems like a co-incidence that the drug that was meant to 'kill' shinichi just HAPPENED to have a 'side-effect' that reverses the aging process.
I'm betting the de-aging was the main function of the drug but since it's still in development and could possibly kill whoever takes it they needed test subjects. We may find out in the end that the Organization has known about Shinichi's situation all along and has simply been observing him in order to collect data for their next attempt at their drug. Haibara even mentioned that Shinichi has been caught up in a plan that's been in motion for years, but has as yet refused to say what that plan is. So it's obvious that something much larger IS going on. The question is : What is it?
Well, that's my theory. I can't wait to here what you all think.
